Piano Lessons

Marjorie accepts piano students with no prior experience through the intermediate level.

Piano lessons incorporate traditional methods mixed with Marjorie’s zany ideas on how to foster a love of music by encouraging students to talk about what they learn and find ways to explore music.  Emphasis on posture, rhythm, accuracy, ear training, memorization, and poise intertwine with experiential learning and exploration.

Spoiler Alert: During the first piano lesson, Marjorie takes apart her piano and encourages the student to feel the strings vibrate, experiment with the pedals, and fully experience how the instrument works.

Marjorie folds in theory, music history, and music appreciation within each segment.  Students regularly receive emailed YouTube links that foster discussion and solidify learning. All concepts are reinforced until students feel confident in their newly acquired skill or technique.  Marjorie uses recognized teaching materials developed by music educators that offer a wide variety of interests, are seasonally appropriate, and accommodate a wide range of interests.

If you do not own a piano or keyboard, Marjorie can assist in selecting an appropriate instrument.
