About Marjorie
An avid choral music enthusiast from a young age, Marjorie decided to pursue professional voice training in 2014 after multiple parents asked her to help children with singing. Marjorie did not feel qualified at that time despite singing in great concert halls, cathedrals, and palaces including New York, Dallas, Vienna, and Florence with conductors such as John Rutter, Terre Johnson, and Phillip Copeland. Marjorie studied voice under Brad Diamond at Samford University. Marjorie's voice has been featured in radio and television commercials as well as in corporate videos. She has appeared in productions for the Birmingham Music Club, most recently in Operetta Spectacular (2018) and will play the role of a mean nun in an upcoming one-act play.
Fascinated with the science of the voice and love of singing, Marjorie's main focus is voice training. Students typically are middle and high school teenagers, yet Marjorie teaches several adults and will accept elementary age singers by successful audition only. To date, 100% of her students auditioning for post-secondary music school have been accepted and several have been awarded scholarships.
In addition to singing, lessons in beginner to the intermediate-level piano and all levels of music theory are offered. Marjorie recently designed an online music theory course ranging from beginner to advanced that is perfect for on-the-go learners.
Marjorie grew up in Mountain Brook and attended school through 10th grade. She graduated from Tuscaloosa Academy, where she was the president of the choir and a member of the Alabama All-State Choir. Marjorie studied at the University of Alabama her Freshman year and partook in a summer abroad at the Université de Provence in Aix-en-Provence, France.
A graduate of Boston College (and founding member of the BC Sharps), Marjorie earned a BA in English and went on to write for e-zines, contributed to The Life Cycle of a Nonprofit, and wrote successfully funded grants for Birmingham area agencies, including as the volunteer Chair of Foundation Donors for 3 years with the Junior League of Birmingham. Marjorie's professional work prior to going to music school included Senior Director of Fund Development & Communications for the Girl Scouts and owning a PR and Marketing business specializing in nonprofit management and small business marketing.
Marjorie has two sons, Chris and Will, both of whom are involved in choir at Mountain Brook High School. Chris plans to major in Voice and Political Science or History in college. He has been a member of the Alabama All-State Choir since 7th grade and is the low bass in ABOG at MBHS. Chris is a great success story as a singer because he was hearing impaired until a successful operation at the age of three. Will, despite suffering a brain injury has defied the odds and is a long distance high school three-season athlete.
Marjorie is married to Mickey Trimm, a healthcare expert, amateur tenor sax player, and human walking encyclopedia of jazz. They are devoted to two fluffy Mini Teddy Bear Goldendoodles, Fenny and Wrigley.

The Details
All lessons are designed with the student in mind. Marjorie's studio space is designed for optimal sound that supports a singer and boosts confidence. Similarly, the grand piano was selected not only for appropriateness in the space, but also to showcase and complement the voice.
